The Benefits of Individualized Coaching
The Benefits of Individualized Coaching
The Global Academic provides individualized support guiding students through their transition from high school to college. Students will learn to align their study skills with new expectations, to build strong academic and personal networks, and to further develop critical thinking skills, beyond what universities already offer.
How can students benefit from personal coaching?
College poses different challenges than high school. While some of these differences are obvious, others are not - with consequences for student success.
Academic Challenges:
Adjusting to more rigorous coursework and different grading standards
Developing effective study habits, time management, and note-taking skills
Learning to navigate large lecture courses vs. smaller classes
Preparing for exams, papers, and projects with higher expectations
Adjusting to living away from home for the first time
Making new friends and building a supportive social network
Joining clubs, teams, or campus organizations and finding a sense of belonging
Personal Development & Life Skills:
Balancing academics with work, extracurriculars, or personal responsibilities
Managing stress, mental health, or anxiety related to the transition
Setting goals and staying motivated in a new environment
Navigating independence, budgeting, and self-care
How often will students meet with a coach and what type of activities will we do?
Coaches and students will meet weekly online.
Initial meetings will focus on individualized guidance to set up students for success in the classroom.
Students will complete activities related to time-management, study skills, test taking strategies and networking with professors and teaching assistants.
The curriculum will be tailored to the individual student's needs.
Why would parents want their students to work with a coach?
Parents often worry about student success and well-being.
The Global Academic offers support for your student navigating this new learning environment, with an emphasis on academic and career prospects connected with peace of mind.
